About the Opportunities

Pacific Safety currently has multiple opportunities for Safety Advisors with a construction and/or contractor safety management experience.    

This is a great opportunity for you to gain exposure to both federally and provincially regulated work environments and various disciplines including safety management system, contractor safety management, safety by design, field auditing and implementation. You will enjoy a great balance between fieldwork, site auditing, educating and administration. You will work with a sub-group of advisors focused on implementing ‘world class’ contractor safety management. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Building relationships within the client’s contractor and/or service provider community to help with safety advocacy 
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders to identify and communicate associated risk and mitigation strategies
  • Provide subject matter expertise to project managers, project engineers and other contract owners on the owner’s safety requirements, safety management processes and industry leading best practices
  • Review safe work plans for compliance with expected standards
  • Review contractor/service provider OHS programs against expected compliance standards
  • Orient employees, contractors, service providers and other stakeholders to the client’s management program
  • Conducting regular site and job observations and tours to advocate, monitor and support the behaviours associated with ‘world-class’ safety performance
  • Communicate program performance and a requirements effectively and efficiently in person, on the phone and in writing
  • Author reports, letters, memos and correspondence
  • Author and facilitate presentations, workshops and meetings in support of safety advocacy and safety management

You will also possess each of the following:

  • Exceptional intra and interpersonal awareness and behaviours
  • Working knowledge of the B.C. Workers Compensation Act, Regulation, and guidelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Office 365)
  • Customer-focused attitude with the ability to build relationships. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent time management skills, along with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects concurrently
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to climb ladders, access heights, walk long distances in a day, work outdoors in all seasons and work in tight spaces (utilities corridors, mechanical rooms, etc.)
  • The ability to pass a criminal record check
  • Drivers license

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  1. Submit a well-documented narrative on how their behaviours and previous contributions have influenced excellence in safety performance and culture; and/or
  2. Have post-secondary education; and/or
  3. Have post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
